CLEVELAND HEIGHTS CELEBRATES ARBOR DAY 2021
Cleveland Heights, OH, April 29, 2021 - The City of Cleveland Heights will celebrate Arbor Day on Friday, April 30 at 10:00am at the new mini-park at Noble and Roanoke roads. As a city that cherishes its tree canopies and tree-lined streets, Arbor Day is especially welcomed in Cleveland Heights.
The City’s Forestry Department will join with the Heights Tree People in planting three trees throughout the park.
This year also marks the 43rd year that Cleveland Heights has been designated a Tree City USA awardee by the Arbor Day Foundation. The City continues to receive this recognition because of its commitment to effective urban management.
“Cleveland Heights has always valued the beauty of our neighborhoods largely because of our beautiful tree coverage. We are the envy of many of our neighboring cities,” said City Manager Susanna Niermann O’Neil. “We are also so fortunate to have a committed partner in the Heights Tree People who offer trees to any residents that request one.”
The Foundation recognized Cleveland Heights for meeting the program’s four requirements: a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.
“Tree City USA communities see the impact an urban forest has in a community first hand,” said Dan Lambe, president of the Arbor Day Foundation. “The trees being planted and cared for by Cleveland Heights are ensuring that generations to come will enjoy a better quality of life.”
